Birdies for the Bluegrass: Where Good Wedges Equal Big Pledges!
- July 16, 2018
What’s better than watching the best golfers in the world score low? Well, how about watching those birdies give back? Birdies for the Bluegrass is an online giving event that’s underway now and will continue through this weekend’s PGA Tour Barbasol Championship Tournament. This Gives Day combines the joy of watching world-class golfers with the joy of giving back to the Kentucky community, providing donors with an opportunity to pledge a dollar amount to one or all of the participating nonprofits for each birdie scored during the 4-day tournament.
Don’t know your bogeys from you pars? Perhaps this stat from the tournament site can help add some context: the TOUR estimates that somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 birdies — attained by hitting 1 under par on a hole — are typically tallied during the four-day event. That leaves plenty of room for optimism for the 171 participating central Kentucky nonprofits in this unique giving event! Donors also have the option to choose specific non-profit organizations to which they distribute their donations, or to evenly distribute their donations to all participating nonprofits.
Birdies for the Bluegrass is hosted by CiviCore’s partner and friends at the Blue Grass Community Foundation. The giving event has a consortium of sponsors including The PGA Tour, UK HealthCare, Barbasol, Lexus of Lexington, and several others.
