Social Impact Representative
Ryan is passionate about social justice issues and race relations. Ryan is a Commissioner on the Denver African American Commission which is charged with advising the Mayor on issues and concerns that impact or are of importance to the African American community. Ryan also works as a facilitator for the Anti Defamation League and the Office of the Independent Monitor where he generates dialogue which addresses the issue of race/racism in the U.S. and its ongoing impact on community. Ryan is a graduate of the Denver 5 Points Family Leadership Institute, a civic participation and leadership program which builds civic skills and empowers citizens to be proactive change agents in their communities.
Ryan graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University with degrees in Political Theory and Russian Language. In his studies he examined the philosophical principles that have historically animated political communities and how they have been translated into practice. In addition to his time at MSU, Ryan spent a semester abroad studying Russian Language and Culture at Volgograd State Technical University.
In his free time Ryan enjoys playing basketball, hiking/camping, and reading.
